Presidency lambastes Ango Abdullahi; calls him a General without troops:

A statement signed on Sunday by Northern Elders Forum (NEF) Convener, Prof. Ango Abdullahi alleged that the insecurity in some northern part of the country was an indication that the president and some northern governors from the affected states had lost control over the protection of the people which is their constitutional role.

He made the statement due to the increasing wave of banditry and Boko Haram insurgency in some northern states.

But in a swift antagonism, the senior special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina in his statement dated June 14, 2020 and captioned: NORTHERN ELDERS FORUM; A GENERAL WITHOUT TROOPS described them as a mere “irritant and featherweight”.

He said though the name of the the group makes it look like a conglomeration of true elders, but the truth is that NEF is just Ango Abdullahi, and Ango Abdullahi is NEF.

He noted that the group is a quasi-organization that boasts of no credible membership, and its leader was similar to a General without troops.

He stated that despite the group’s flagrant opposition to president Buhari’s reelection in 2019, the president won them and their preferred candidate and they were heavily disgraced.

President Buhari is steadily and steadfastly focused in retooling the country and discerning Nigerians do not need a paper tiger to tell them the true state of the nation Femi said.
