Recall that on Wed. June 10 2020 the news of Instagram and Dubai based celebrity, Raymond Igbalodely popularly known as Hushpuppi went viral.
He was accused of defrauding the U.S of over $100 million COVID relief fund meant for Americans.
He was arrested by INTERPOL in Dubai as alleged. During an interview with TV, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) boss, Ibrahim Magu denied his commission’s involvement over Hushpuppi’s saga.
He swiftly reiterated his commission’s readiness to work with FBI and the Interpol in prosecuting Hushpuppi, should they seek their assistance along the line.
But presently, Hushpuppi has not been extradited to Nigeria neither has he been handed over to the EFCC as against rumours making round
Magu equally denied his commission’s interest in prosecuting only Nigerian fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo-Yahoo, instead of going after corrupt political office holders. Mr. Magu rather revealed that the menace of the fraudsters is causing the country a lot of damages, especially on the international scene. As such, they are determined to help the younger generation live a decent life, rather than finding pleasure in fraudulent lifestyle.
