Grand reception in honour of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, UNN:
On the 3rd of March 2020, His Royal Highness, Igwe (Barr.) Rapheal R.S.N Ezeh, the Obige Obukpa, and the entire Obukpa Autonomous Community, which comprises of five autonomous communities held a grand reception in honour of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, UNN, Professor Charles Arizechukwu Igwe.
The event which took place at the St. Marks Anglican Church Obukpa, was in celebration of the remarkable rise of the Vice Chancellor, from the humble fields of the community to the pinnacle of academic and administrative excellence, both as a Professor of Soil Science and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria. The event which drew a large crowd, witnessed congratulatory messages from different segments of the community.
In their address, the community welcome the Vice Chancellor back to the home of his youth, expressing delight that he has, through his doggedness and crave for excellence put the name of the community in the spotlight. While thanking him for this continued support, they urged him to continue to assist the community- noting that, being one of them, he knows the needs and aspirations of the community.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor thanked the community for considering him worthy of such an honour, and promised to do what all good sons do, stressing that he shares in the historicity of the community, and hence he cannot abandon his second home, where he spent his formative years. The Vice Chancellor was accompanied to the event by members of the University leadership.
