BREAKING! Nigeria confirms first case of Coronavirus in Lagos:

Coronavirus in Lagos:

Lagos State Ministry of Health has confirmed the first case of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria.

According to the state Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, in a statement around 1.40 am on Friday February 28 2020, said the government had reported it to the Federal Ministry of Health.

“The case, which was confirmed on the 27th of February 2020, is the first case to be reported in Nigeria since the outbreak in China in January 2020.

“The case is an Italian citizen who entered Nigeria on the 25th of February from Milan, Italy, for a brief business visit.

“He fell ill on the 26th February and was transferred to Lagos State Biosecurity Facilities for isolation and testing. COVID-19 infection was confirmed by the Virology Laboratory of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, part of the Laboratory Network of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control. The patient is clinically stable, with no serious symptoms, and is being managed at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba, Lagos,” the statement read partly.”

Prevention is better than the cure as they said. According to Okafor Moses:

First case of Coronavirus has been confirmed in Lagos, Nigeria. Case is an Italian who came to Nigeria for a business trip, he arrived on Tuesday from Milan, Italy. The patient is presently being managed at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba. FG says it’s working on containment. contacts are under radar, they say.

Very important to note:

Now the government will make it look like they have it under control, but whether or not they do, understand that there are many other people who are infected & are on the lose in Nigeria already.

~ The plane he entered
~ All on board
~ The hotel he stayed
~ The members of staff there
~ The people in the meeting(s) he went
~ And all the people that these have come in contact with.

~ Get nose masks, hand sanitizers and disinfectants. Avoid crowded places (Malls, BRT, buses, etc) buy as many food, provisions and water as you can and store in your houses. You might not be able to step out in/for a long time.

~ After and during your outtings, AVOID touching your face, mouth, ears & eyes. These are the fastest entrances for the virus to set into your body.

~ The Corona Virus(COVID-19) is an offshoot of the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) virus. They both affect your respiration, thus shutting down breathing & then killing you.

~ If there are more cases of this outbreak, public places (e.g malls) will be shut down, public transportation will be suspended indefinitely, schools (primary to tertiary) will be closed down too.

~ Though there is no cure, there is still symptomatic treatment.

~ Symptoms (signs that you have it) are;

  • Fever
    -Cough
    -Shortness of breath
    -Breathing difficulties

These symptoms may appear in as few as 2 – 14 days after exposure to the virus.

~ 80,000 people are said to be infected worldwide. But you can’t trust this information, the media is notorious for rounding up accurate number of casualties.

For instance, when an outbreak is just in one country or state, it is called an epidemic, when it gets international, it’s called a pandemic. Nigeria makes it the 41st nation in the world to be marked with the COVID-19 & the world’s government is still calling it an epidemic.

N/B: The government has zero clues yet!
