The National Fraud and Anti Corruption Directorate (NFACD), has pledged to bring to justice, people who abuse their office thereby creating avenues for corruption in Papua New Guinea.
Mr Damaru NFACD Director, Detective Chief Superintendent Mathew Damaru, said this while he was reacting on the arrest of Provincial and Local-level Government Secretary, Dickson Guina on Wednesday this week.
Notwithstanding, Chief Superintendent Damaru said that Mr. Guina was arrested for attempting to pervert the course of justice, in a case involving his relation.
However, the director said that perverting the course of justice, is an offense that is becoming common with people in authority, who are abusing their offices, to suppress investigations, and stop justice from being served on a daily basis.
Mr Damaru also added that such actions only encourage and create room for fraud and corruption to blossom in the workplace, and are obstacles to the fight against corruption in the land.
According to the source, NBC online News platform, the Chief Superintendent said that the absence of whistleblowers legislation, is also placing people at risk of losing their jobs, and this is what is going on.
