The first thing to do is to speak with your doctor to be sure if you can take a flight. A domestic flight might be totally fine while a 12hour flight might be strenuous for your body you should get your doctor’s opinion and be safe.
Most pregnancies are risk-free and travelling is something a mother can explore as long as your doctor permits you.
The best time to fly pregnant
There are about forty weeks of pregnancy that spans for 3 trimesters and in those three trimesters, there are different levels of comfort. Different women exhibit diverse symptoms and in most cases, the second trimester is the most comfortable.
The first trimester is so uncomfortable, women experience fatigue, morning sickness, dizziness and vomiting which makes it a lot stressful and for the last trimester you will probably feel too heavy and too uncomfortable to plan a trip.
The best time to fly is between 13 to 28 weeks, you will feel a lot like yourself and flying would be fun.

You don’t have to panic or get scared if any unforeseen circumstance occurs while you are on air the airline officials and staff are trained to assist you in any way you need.
Where you should sit while flying pregnant?
Pregnant women tend to use the bathroom more often so choosing is a seat that is accessible and close to the loo is advisable.
Ideally, this seat is usually towards the front and back of your cabin class and of course on the aisle. Unless you are going with friends and families that don’t mind being disturbed by your toilet breaks, try to book a seat in advance.
Stay hydrated while flying pregnant
Always keep a bottle of water while flying. It is important to stay hydrated while flying this helps to keep you at ease and also keep early and false contradictions at bay so always keep a bottle of water by your side.
Heavy baggage while flying pregnant
No one enjoys carrying heavy luggage pregnant or not. Try to make your load as light as possible and invest in suitcases with wheels that could be dragged easily.
Make sure you ask for help while lifting onto conveyor belts and into the overhead compartments on the aeroplane itself.
Snacks for flying pregnant
Whether you’re flying for three hours or thirteen, make sure to pack in some snacks. Your airline may not have the best options available for you to choose from, so make sure to pack your favourites in. Things like fruit bars, nuts, energy bars and biscuits can go a long way when you’re trying to keep hunger at bay. For any dietary requirements during your pregnancy, make sure to book ahead with the airline.
Keep your documents at hand
Keep your medical notes from your healthcare professional at hand, along with your ID/passport, visa papers (if necessary) and boarding passes. This is especially useful when travelling to more than one destination as it will save you from having to scratch around in your bags when asked to produce the documents that allow you to fly.
There is no danger in flying pregnant, it should be a part of your bucket list. Make sure you are not stressed and make your trip as short as possible, a long-haul flight is not advisable for you. Enjoy yourself while travelling.
