Trafficking: NEMA receives 173 Nigerians from libya:

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Tuesday received 173 Nigerians..who were assisted to come back home from Libya.. After they have been stranded and powerless..

These returnees, arrived in the country on two different flights,sent by the Nigerian government were received by the Coordinator, Lagos Territorial Office, NEMA, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammed at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

Muhammed stated that the Nigerians were assisted and brought back home by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the European Union (EU) under the Assisted Voluntary Returnees Programme which began in April 2017 which was initiated by the level of illegal immigrants..

He explained that 162 of the returnees arrived from Misrata in a chartered aircraft belonging to Al Buraq Air with registration number 5A-DMG, at about 4.52 a.m. According to him, another 11 of the returnees arrived via a commercial flight from Bengazi at about 5.15 a.m on Tuesday.

The individual profiling of the returnees on arrival indicated that there were 52 female adults, four female children, and four female infants as well as 106 male adults, two male children and five male infants.

Twenty-one of the returnees had medical issues and were immediately attended to by the medical team on the ground,” he said.
All this people are victims illegal migration.. Who were promised by fake travel agents on job that don’t exist..instead they are been used and sold..


One of the returnees, Miss Aishat Areni, from Ogun State..told news men that.. She wanted to go an practice catering in new York..and was promised by her travel agent that her wishes will be fulfilled after which her aunty also convinced her to go with them..she told newsmen that she found out she was not been taken to U.S but Libya when she left Niger, she had a huge arguments we her travel agent..in which she was later told that..only two menial jobs were available.. Which were house service (prostitution)and a house help.

She added that she worked for a year and paid her agent 90,000 monthly for 5months..
She stated that Libya is not a good place to be..as you can be kidnapped ,robbed, raped and killed for no reason..she explained that Nigeria is far better than Libya as a whole..
Also the general public should take note and not be deceived by fake travel agent who can ruin your lives and dreams..

Areni said her journey back home began after her mother contacted the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

“The phone number of a particular staff of the Nigerian Embassy was sent to me and it was the embassy staff that facilitated my return to the country. I am grateful to the Nigerian government for helping me back to the country, ” she said.
